Spring Style in Vintage Lilly Pulitzer

If you thought Northern California and So-Cal were rivals, Texas has it’s own ‘my part of the state is better than yours‘ attitudes as I’ve learned over the past year. Austin and Houston have some strong opinions about Dallas and each city has its own fashion preferences. Just like San Francisco is known for jeans and a sweatshirt, I’d say Dallas has a definite thing for the iconic resort wear brand Lilly Pulitzer.

It seems like a woman’s rite of wardrobe passage to have a pop of Lilly Pulitzer print hanging in her closet here in Dallas. I missed out on the wildly popular Target collaboration living in Switzerland, so I recently bought my first piece of Pulitzer at my favorite luxury 2nd-hand shop in Dallas, Clotheshorse Anonymous. You can find so many Lilly Pulitzer pieces (new collections and old) there. Here’s a quick ‘spring style’ post from a sunny day out in Dallas, Texas in a Lilly Pulitzer skirt and vintage blouse perfect for brunch, a coffee date or meeting…

Vintage on Vintage – I love this vintage white blouse from my great aunt with the details and lace.

Greenery Alert –Greenery‘ is the Pantone color of the year and a major trend in fashion this season. If you’re looking for inspiration to add greenery to your wardrobe, check out last month’s ‘How I Wear My‘ by Adrienne of Rich Life in Wine Country and Jill of Everything Just So.

Kitten Heels for 2017 – Yes, kitten heels have made a comeback this year! This is great news for any mom chasing a super speedy 2-year-old. I’d have no chance in 5 inch stilettos. As British Vogue stated it best – kitten heels ‘read practical and pretty in equal parts; they don’t hinder the task at hand, whether that’s running the country or running to a fashion show.’

Dallas Style Tip – Windy days, not too mention sudden spring storms, are no joke in DFW so I aim to wear non-flowy dresses and skirts to avoid wardrobe malfunctions.

  1. Oh this outfit is so adorable Dale. Where did you find the vintage Chanel – that is an awesome blouse!

Looking forward to your posts in May.

    xoxo Yvonne

    • Hi Yvonne,
Actually the top isn’t Chanel (just the bag), but the vintage blouse is from my great aunt and I don’t think it was ever worn. I’ll have to check the brand when I get home and let you know. 🙂

  2. Dale,
Your skirt and blouse are darling together. There is nothing like a cool vintage piece and even better when it’s from a family member! That little skirt certainly was a find and adorable and love how you styled it. You will have that forever.

It’s great when you find a good vintage store. I just was at my favorite and got a lovely trench coat from Theory for almost nothing. It’s like winning a tiny lotto!

Hope you have a good weekend Dale!

    Hugs, Kim
