Gladiator Gal in Spain

How do you spot a trend that probably won’t last? When you see it on every Kardashian sister in one outing. As I scrolled through Daily Mail a couple nights ago at 2 am; Kris, Kourtney and Kendall were all decked out in gladiator sandals filming in St. Barts. Whether you slipped into the not-so-easy to wear gladiators this year or not, here’s a summer trend special featuring a 3 looks to squeeze in before fall arrives.

While on a family vacation a couple weeks ago in Majorca, Spain I wore an off-the-shoulder romper with a pair of lace-up gladiator sandals in a look that screamed ‘fast fashion.’ But it was comfortable, light-weight in the humidity, super-easy for feeding Wilhelmina, and most importantly as my sister complimented the style, she added, ‘it hides your extra baby weight.Bingo! – I wore it almost every day.

(SIDENOTE – I just read this 7×7 article about a Spanish village north of Madrid that costs less than an apartment in San Francisco! Not that you need to buy a village, but Spain, especially Majorca has been my FAVORITE place to visit while living in Europe. It’s unpretentious with amazing food and beaches. It’s also seriously budget-friendly compared to most of Europe if you’re planning to visit from the US). Now, moving on to the summer styles…

1. Gladiator Sandals ~ This pair by MANGO looked fun to wear when I bought them, but the laces kept falling down so I recommend a more structured leather style with a zipper.

2. Off – the – Shoulder – Styles ~ When I first saw off-the-shoulder looks popping up over the spring and summer I thought, ‘eww, that’s kinda 80’s,’ but the style grew on me and shows just enough skin for summer. Off-the-Shoulder is also the perfect combo with a romper because…

3. Rompers & Jumpsuits ~ I usually steer clear of rompers because they just don’t fit when you have a medium – long torso, but when the style is off-the-shoulder you can instantly move it down a bit on your shoulders until it fits the way you like.

  8. Ahhhh Spain….I love it too, though we did not make it to Majorca on our last trip. It’s definitely on my list for next visit. This romper is darling on you, Dale. I totally agree about off the shoulder looks-so easy to adjust to fit in the right way. I’ve been a fan of off the shoulder fashion for myself-I tend to wear it in maxi dress and tops.
    Pretty post!
