Poolside in Pale Blue + Travel Must-Haves You’ll Love this Spring

Shopping your own closet (or someone else’s) – like on Poshmark – is so in vogue these days! And speaking of ‘Vogue,’ the Met Gala is coming up next week which is all about the fashion. Five years ago, I wanted every fast-fashion trend in sight. But lately I’ve thought, ‘Why not re-wear what I already have?’

It’s not a new motto, but it’s been mine lately after reading ‘The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up‘ by Marie Kondo and feeling overwhelmed with laundry and trying to organize piles of my daughters’ tiny little clothes. The last thing I want to do with 20 minutes of free time is go shopping for myself – especially in an actual department store. After spending a whirlwind weekend in Miami (more on that later this week), I have a few tips for feeling fashionable on your next stay-cation or getaway via plane, train or sea this Spring. Hint, it includes shades of blue…

The SceneDallas where it’s been an unseasonably chilly Spring (for Texas)

Spring Hair Refresher – I recently had a haircut (a teenie tiny trim) with my Dallas stylist, Clint, at Chad Rookstool salon. Even though my hair is thinner these days after baby #2, a trim made it feel healthier and he added 5 pieces of my clip-in extensions for length and volume. Tip – make sure to blend extensions with your real hair. He created consistency by wrapping them around a curling iron for a light wave.

Sleep in Style – This is the new Mini/Travel Size Savvy Sleeper + Pillow and it’s been so helpful on our past few trips. The pillow is a down alternative and super comfortable so I’ve used it to sleep on flights, or rest my arm when I’m holding the baby, or my toddler uses it when she needs to nap. *If you’ve ever stayed in an Airbnb or hotel with bad pillows and crunchy starched cotton pillowcases, be sure to bring this NEW Travel Size to care for hair, skin and lashes.

Pale Blue is the Shade you Need this Spring – I love my friend’s blog, FunkyForty, by Yvonne in Switzerland because she goes to fashion week events all over Europe and immediately shares the trends. I look forward to reading them weekly from Dallas. She recently wrote the Biggest Spring Trends of 2018, and pale blue was #4!

Straw Handbags – Natural colored straw handbags are everywhere, and you don’t need to splurge. This one is from Bags & Co. in Germany and can go from the car to the pool in seconds holding everything I need. Check online and even Target for a cute one to rock through summer!

<DETAILS by Dale> jacket (old, last seen here while pregnant) – Zara / white jeans – Armani Exchange / cream faux-snakeskin heels – Ann Taylor / Mini pillow &  14 x 20″ pillowcase – (color Serenity)  Savvy Sleepers / blouse – Banana Replubic (last seen here lakeside in Switzerland)

Hope you had a great weekend and Happy 1st Day of May! Some of these favorite Spring Must-Haves below…

  3. Dale, Looking gorgeous and I love this blue! I am with you. It’s better to buy less and shop our own closets. Add a few accessories as you said, like this cute bag and you can even come up with something unique. I follow Yvonne on Facebook.
Hoping you are enjoying spring! xx Kim
