Date Night at Dolce Rivieria

Labor Day Weekend plans? I have a feeling there will be an influx of last-second staycations planned in Dallas today because of major gas station drama. The past two days rumors spread on social media and news reports of a fuel shortage in north Texas due to Hurricane Harvey caused panic in DFW. Result: Huge lines yesterday at every gas station I saw until plastic bags were placed over empty pumps as fuel disappeared by last night.

Hovering around a quarter of a tank yesterday at noon, I tweeted this pic of one of the few stations I found with fuel. Waiting an hour in line at Shell with Wilhelmina whining in the back seat? ‘No thanks, it’ll be fine by tonight,’ I thought. My husband may not always see the glass as half full, but when it comes to his German automobile: full tank at all times. He’s prepared for everything, so he set out in my SUV last night at 10 pm in search for fuel. He returned an hour later frustrated, but thankfully he found a Valero to fill up my Ford. This morning I passed multiple stations with NO fuel. Hopefully, the problem will be solved today, but if you’re stuck in Dallas this weekend, I highly recommend a ‘European getaway’ in the Harwood District where we recently had an Italiano date night at Dolce Riviera

The Scene – Dolce Riviera Ristorante Italiano – The Harwood District in Dallas is located between Victory Park and Uptown, and it’s a sweet spot of true European culture and some of the best restaurants. Not to mention the Instagram-worthy coffee shop – Magnolias Sous Le Pont.

Presenation is everything & the food is amazing too – The opening touch was delicious fresh-baked bread, parmesano, and olives. We started with the Bufala pesto salad. When I spotted the Tartufalo Gnocci as my main course, I felt like I was in Italy. It was delicious and so authentic with freshly shaved black truffle.

Italiano Escape – When you’re nearly 8 months pregnant in the dead heat of a summer in Dallas, it’s the little ‘cool’ things in life that make all the difference. From the moment you valet your car (complimentary of course) and enter through the palm tree lined patio, you can relax in the breezy courtyard and enjoy an Italian spritzer.

True Italian Spritzers – My hubby’s Aperol Spritz for the photo op, although we both sipped on bubbly. Sparkling H20 for me and the Aperol Spritz for him complete with a branded lemon wedge that said ‘Dolce Riveria.’ Attention to detail is a Harwood specialty. If you want to make your own Aperol Spritz at home, here’s how to do it.

Off-the-Shoulder to the Rescue – My family has teased me on Facetime because they see me in this dress so often, but I’m attempting to ‘Marie Kondo’ our condo, and splurging on a maternity wardrobe that doesn’t ‘bring me joy‘ is out of the question. I’ve been living in basics like this off-the-shoulder dress and simple stretchy Old Navy numbers like I wore a few weeks ago in Galveston.

<DETAILS by Dale> dress – Purple Snow (ROSS) / necklace – Zara (last seen here with white collared shirt) / white sandals – (old from Spain) / nails – (OPI) / clutch – LV (comes standard inside the LV Neverfull MM bag)

  1. I’m glad you were able to get gas after all.

You looked great on date night! You truly make being pregnant look glamours! The restaurant looks and sounds very nice. And seeing a photo of an Aperol Spritz always makes me a bit homesick… It’s so popular in Europe…

I hope you are having a good weekend!

  2. The print and material for the dress is so crisp and cool Dale! You look gorgeous! I love spritzers and what a great restaurant.
