Has anyone ever said to you, ‘bless your heart?’ Thanks to Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live and The Real Housewives of Dallas, I learned there are quirky Southern sayings way beyond, ‘Y’all.’ I always thought, ‘bless your heart,’ was a endearing, but according to hottytoddy.com, ‘the phrase has little to do with religion and more to do with a passive-aggressive way to call you an idiot. Depending on your inflection, saying “bless your heart” can sting worse than any insult.’ Did you know that and is this really true?!? I still think it sounds sweet.
Thanks to this month’s ‘D’ Magazine – the newcomer edition – it’s been perfect to get the scoop on how to live in Dallas. They spill the beans on everything from ‘BIG’ hair, what-to-wear to Texas galas, and why locals don’t use the phrase ‘Tex-Mex.’ I’m still adapting my wardrobe to Texas, and with a little white-denim inspiration from Kim at Northern California Style and a Chanel look-for-less tweed top, I was ready for date-night last weekend…
The Scene – Dallas, Texas (Uptown) on our way to dinner (Steak)
White Denim is Crisp for Spring – I know ‘Purple Rain‘ will be on repeat this weekend so if you’re in the mood for spring cleaning, round up your white denim. White skinny jeans go with everything!
Back in the USA – I have to admit that shopping is fun in Dallas. I’m back to vintage shopping and ‘fashionista on a budget‘ finds which didn’t seem possible in Switzerland! Although, I did figure out how to share my husband’s Hermès belt in Zürich.
PS – Add Tweed – I found this tweed top at TJMAXX last summer when I was 7 months pregnant. It definitely didn’t work with a baby bump, so I was excited to finally wear it. Tweed reminds me of Chanel. It’s also classy at any age as Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this week in a key lime – Spring Grass Green – woven tweed coat and matching hat.
Style Sidenote – I had the pleasure of being interviewed this week by the lovely Heather of StyleMindChic on her new Style Series with some of my favorite fashion, beauty and wellness tips. Thanks Heather! If you’re in need of a summer dress for vacay or an upcoming wedding, check out her new Boutique here.
<DETAILS by Dale> jeans – Zara (more I’m loving below) / top – Katherine Barclay Montreal (TJMAXX) / lace up perforated leather heels – Etienne Aigner (on sale now) / belt – Hermés (last seen here) / shades – Calvin Klein
Hope you have a great weekend! Are you a fan of tweed?
Love this look on you, Dale! Date night in Dallas sounds like fun. Thanks so much for sharing your savvy style inspiration with me on StyleMindChic Life this week. My readers are enjoying your tips and even my husband commented on what a great read it was.
It’s always fun to collaborate with you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
xx
Thanks Heather! You should definitely visit Dallas sometime. We’ll double date. 🙂 PS — thank you for the nice comments on the interview. Glad it worked out!
I love Tweed and everything about this outfit. I hope you are enjoying the warm weather in Texas!
Thanks Tanisha! I know summer will be rough, but so far I’m loving the warm spring weather here!!
Great look! White denim is one of my favorites for spring! Great top, too! How fun that you bought it while you were pregnant and now get to wear it!
And I’m intrigued by “‘bless your heart;” for a long time I didn’t know that it’s not a nice thing to say to someone…
Thanks Andrea! Yes, I was definitely excited to wear it and I’m hoping ‘bless your heart’ can still be nice because I’ve heard it a few times. Lol
Great look Dale.
