Fa la la la la, the holidays are here. Decor has decked the department stores since late September; but now ’tis the season’ is officially here. I love the Christmas Markets in Europe and decided every weekend in Zurich is a great chance to explore the city.
Last Sunday decked out in my Little Red Riding Hood peacoat and holiday prep-school socks, we took a tour of The Dolder Grand before a quick coffee date. The Dolder is one of the most luxurious, historical hotels in Switzerland overlooking the city of Zurich rebuilt by world-renowned architect, Lord Norman Foster. Here’s a few reasons to seek out the ‘hot spots’ in your city this holiday season styled in winter wonderland basics…
1. Every City has a Story to Explore ~ I can’t believe I didn’t go to Alcatraz when I was living in SF. Don’t worry if it’s a tourist destination in your city, or a bar in a fancy hotel full of out-of-towners; get dressed up and go.
2. Modern Day Clueless ~ Over-the-knee boots have been hot for years, but this year I’ve been seeing bloggers baring a bit of leg in knee-high socks. Style Tip ~ Wear knee high socks with heels in the same color to elongate your legs.
3. Swiss Sidenote ~ The Dolder is celebrating it’s 5 year anniversary since being renovated in ’08. During the tour, I saw guest rooms and the spa fit for a queen. Bonus ~ Ice-skating rink, golf course, a snail shape meditation room and a beautiful brunch.
Part II Coming Next Week ~ The Coffee Date 2.0 ‘Cappuccino Flirt Ediquette’
<DETAILS by Dale> jacket (old) ~ GUESS (new version here), dress ~ Zara (last seen here), knee socks (recent) ~ H&M, heels ~ Kelsi Dagger, earrings (old) ~ GStage (LA)
Are you getting into the holiday spirit around your city?
