Kate Middleton Glam in Polka Dots & Russian Red

Kate Middleton should start her own personal style blog in between mommy and princess duties because whether she slips into skinny jeans or an evening gown; the fashion world pays attention. I couldn’t help but notice after having baby George, she emerged from the hospital in a light blue polka dot sundress and I suddenly had an urge for the trend myself.

From her bouncy bold locks to her crisp tailored blazers, Kate knows how to add a royal dose of glam without going too far. Here’s my top 4 tips to channel your inner princess with pops of red and polka dots under the baby blue skies in Frankfurt, Germany…

1. Noble Red Lips ~ I’ve mentioned before Russian Red by MAC is my fave on occasion, but red lipstick is tricky. Buy a drugstore brand red lipliner and apply it first to make the lipstick last longer and look even.

2. Treat Your Crown to a Blowout ~ Prices in Frankfurt are surprisingly low for a blowout which got me thinking. Instead of splurging at a blowdry bar or high-end salon, check your neighborhood for a lower priced salon which is more convenient for last minute occasions. See if they offer blowouts and bring a pic of exactly what you want. You can still get your hair colored and cut at your main salon later.

3. A Royal Mix ~ Kate Middlton takes mini fashion risks. Try a striped top with a polka dot skirt or a patterned clutch in the same color family.

4. Stately Toes ~ Closed toe heels are common for fall, so find a comfortable pair you can wear in all weather conditions. It’s hard to ignore a classic red heel with any outfit, especially jeans, and I also love these statement floral print pumps.

Are you ever inspired by Kate Middleton’s style?

Hope you had a great weekend! ~xoDale

  3. I love her style. It’s very princess appropriate with a subtly bold spin. I love wearing lady like things with subtle bold details. I loved her jenny packham blue dress with empire waist and I love your take on that outfit. I think empire waists are so flattering on pregnant women. 🙂

  7. She really should! Can you imagine how many followers she would get!?! I loved that Alexander McQueen suit she wore for the christening. LOVE your outfit Dale! LOVE your tips! Those red heels are smokin hot! Hope all is well.

  8. Well no, I am not a fan of the royals LOL. Sorry Dale! I don’t really see her as a style maven but her stylist sure does a fabulous job! ;o)

I love this post. I must confess that I am a Kate admirer. How wonderful to have someone so poised, feminine, appropriate, and stylish in the spotlight, huh? In fact, I was inspired to purchase a pair of blue skinnies last year solely because I saw how good (and appropriate!) Kate looked in them. She caught my eye only a few years ago because I noticed she and I have similar body types and styles – though she’s much more toned than I 😉 I enjoy following the What Kate Wore and HRH Duchess Kate blogs. Both dissect what she’s wearing and (thankfully) steer clear of gossip. They give us what we really want: fashion! 🙂 FYI, I was drawn to your blog for the same reason I am drawn to Kate. I love that your approach is feminine, appropriate, fun, and stylish. 🙂

  12. I think Kate can do no wrong. When she wears an item websites literally crash within minutes of people trying to buy the same thing. I read recently that a couple of the dresses she wore after George was born was buy a French shop called Serafina. Her profits went up by 400% with Kate just wearing 2 of her dresses!
I too love Russian Red by Mac. Buying red lippy can be a bit tricky for me. I was told I must always pick a red that has blue undertones and not orange undertones???
    Love your outfit Dale xx

  13. You look gorgeous Dale! I love the more relaxed top with the fun mini skirt. The sexy shoes and lipstick definitely bring it together!
I’ve only been to Frankfurt for Oktoberfest, but it is a lovely city!

  25. I love the way that you’re wearing that look–the red lips look great on you. My favorite is NARS jungle red, but I’ve lost 2 in a row, so I feel like it’s a sign 🙂 I also love your tip of using a local salon for a blow out . I’m going to have to check that out because the blowdry bar is not close to me and gets a little pricey.

  26. Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog. So glad I was able to find yours!

  27. Polka dots and red heels will always be an eye-catcher! Love the outfit!

  28. Oh yes! I think she’s great in playing with outfits. Dressing up or dressing down, she still look fab! She sure knows what flatters her and she stick to it.
You look great in polka dots. I just realize I’ve not many polka dots stuff =D
