5 ‘Sightseeing In Style’ Summer Must-Haves

SS_081413_TROPEZ_COVER

St. Tropez is a city I’ve never visited and it’s a crazy place! Once we arrived I was like a Curious Little Georgette with so many questions. Tourists were drooling over and snapping pics of yachts lining the port. Other show-offs sped by in Ferrari’s and Rolls Royce’s with blondes half their age beside them. The party seemed never-ending, but the actual tourism season is only June – August. Then St. Tropez, including clubs and hotels, will close til the next year.

We navigated the cobblestone streets throughout the village of St. Tropez nibbling on mediterranean cuisine and making special ice-cream stops. Here’s my top 5 sightseeing style tips for any road trip or getaways as summer comes to a close…

1. Safety First ~ The streets were lined with every designer store you could image including cafe’s by Dior and a Roberto Cavalli restaurant. But it was still tourist central. To avoid being pick-pocketed on vacays I ditch oversized purses and stick to small crossbody bags which are safer.

2. Messy Hair, Can’t Care ~ On trips when I was younger, I took forever to get ready which is such a waste of time. Rather than blowdrying my locks to watch them frizzz in the humidity, I let them air dry and threw ’em in a side braid with a clear rubber hair tie.

3. Try at Least 1 Famous Regional Dish ~ I avoided the Foie gras on every French menu and went with ice-cream instead. My favorite flavor was Yoghurt Framboise (raspberry yogurt ice-cream).

4. Travel Alert- Skip the Heels* ~ Flats are comfy and ideal if you can walk in them all day. Check Zara’s ‘end of summer‘ sales for sandals like these studded leopard sandals. *As I learned, wedges are also a total disaster on cobblestone streets.

5. Don’t Forget Postcards ~ I love finding special postcards that match the personalities of my family or friends. Store the addresses in your phone so you can mail them from the actual location which makes it all the more special.

What is one of your must-have travel or beauty items this year?

  2. Great tips! I wore Toms and flat sandals during our entire trip, and I’m so glad I did. I also have a major weakness for postcards. Looks like you had fun! 🙂

    • That’s so exciting Hailes! I can’t wait to hear how your trip goes and the sightseeing in St. Tropez. I will try to find out the name of that ice cream place but you’ll see it right on the port and there’s always tons of flavors with a huge line. Enjoy

  13. It looks amazing there!

My must have travel accessory is a cross-body bag.

  14. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment on my blog. You are gorgeous!

  15. I know what you’re saying about the FRIZZY hair .. you just have to let it go because nothing helps! We are dying to go to St. Tropez. Looks like you guys had a great time!

  16. You look gorgeous! I learnt about heels and the cobbles the hard way 😉
My must-have travel item is a small evian water spray to cool down, a cross over bag and Elemis Illuminating Beauty Balm which gives a gorgeous glow so that we can ditch the make-up (which you clearly don’t need as you still have your honeymoon glow) xx

  17. How exciting! It looks like you fit right in there 🙂

  18. Love this outfit. St. Tropez?! Soo jealous!!!!!

  19. I love seeing all your honeymoon pictures!! Your husband us truly a keeper in snapping all the pics while on your honeymoon!! The new see-through vinyl bags make cosmetics and necessities a snap for traveling. What are your thoughts on Birkenstock sandals coming into vogue speaking of comfy footwear while traveling??!! Are you buying that fashion trend??

    • haha, thanks Bee, he’s definitely a keeper. I saw those new see thru costmetic bags too and really liked them. Also, I think that being from Nor Cal and seeing way to many Birkenstock sandals as a kid makes it too hard to like them again. 🙂 I know they’re really comfy but I won’t be buying any.

  22. I’ve heard tonnes of great things about St. Tropez! Lucky you to be able to enjoy a piece of it =D These are pretty pictures you’ve taken =D
You dislike Foie Gras too?! My bf and I really dislike it *yuck*
I like the way you let your hair down and did that messy-look. My favourite beauty product now is a bronzer and my favourite item for travel is a silky top. Light and doesn’t take up room in my luggage =D
