Brrr! It’s great to be back in San Francisco. Despite the chilly, fog-filled days SF summers are known for in July; I’m doing my best to venture out sans hoodies and hot cocoa in between the final days of wedding prep. On Sunday I met up with America’s Cup marketing for a tour of the posh premises full of spectators, pop-up restaurants, LV swag and of course, catamarans. I wanted the full scoop on the action taking over the Bay this summer.
This year, the Louis Vuitton Cup is being held in San Francisco and to be honest, I didn’t really know what it’s all about. From one fashionista to another, I’d like to answer a few questions in case you’re thinking of taking a stroll down the Embarcadero from ‘what to wear’ to what you’ll see….
What is the America’s Cup? ~ The world’s ‘oldest active trophy’ in an international sport, but the sport itself is yacht racing. Super fast yacht racing that lasts from through Sept. 21st this summer in SF.
What’s with the LV Swag? ~ Louis Vuitton is one of the official sponsors and yes there is a special pop up store near Pier 23 with a special edition LV collection.
What Do You Actually See? You can watch qualifying races, see stylish exhibits and soak in the historical roots behind the sport. Or, grab a bite at the authentic New Zealand cuisine pop-up restaurant or take a peek at Larry Ellison’s yacht like I was doing here.
What to Wear ~ The temps drop into the 50′s and 60′s near the Bay, hence the heavy sweater and Nespresso Cappuccino in mid-July.
Insiders Tip ~ Each morning a few special San Francisco edition LV bags with orange details are released. This lasts through the end of the races and there were only about 400 made total. (Sidenote – If you love LV and the Giants, you will want this bag.)
<DETAILS by Dale> sweater - Zara/skirt (old) – F21/platforms ~ Jessica Simpson/bag ~ Jason Wu for Target/
