3 Tips to Style Shorts from the Shores of Laguna Beach

SS_042413_LagunaBeachLegs _Cover

There’s a short-shorts phenomenon sweeping the nation. From the Polo Fields of Coachella to women’s thigh’s all over the country and beyond; this style has been aptly named by my brother and his buddies ‘The Summer of Full Diapy.’  Super short Levi’s cut-offs baggy in back with cheeks exposed.

I wore a longer pair of jade green shorts with Espadrilles at Laguna Beach a few days ago. While they’re certainly not festival flirt status, here’s 3 ways to style a non-cutoff pair of cotton shorts…

1. Try Colorful Shorts ~ Rather than the classic denim pair, try colored denim, or any nautical inspired pair like these from Forever21.

2. Pair them with Classics ~ It’s not always easy making shorts look a bit more ‘dressed up’ so swap out a tank for a collared shirt tied at the waist.

3. Heels, Wedges or Flats? ~ If you want to elongate your legs, instead of nude heels, go for neutral wedges which are more appropriate and casual with shorts.

Summer Diet Sidenote ~ My fiancé just taught me a diet trick at Starbucks. Instead of my usual Caramel Frappuccino, he recommended an iced Americano with room for a bit of milk and sugar. It’s less than half the calories of my old fave.

Short shorts and skirts are in style. Love the blue and green Dale. HaHa Your fiancé is a conscientious calorie counter. I need one of those!

  3. Those are fantastic shorts, and a really cute outfit! Also, the shorts you describe early on sound awful…super short shorts can be great, but saggy? …yeah, I don’t understand how or why that would be worn.

  7. Hahaha I really LOL at the diaper line! It’s so bloody true, I can’t seem to find anything that’s gonna cover my ho-ha up! Maybe it’s my old age now but I think a pair like yours is much more sexier AND flattering than those where ones butt cheeks are exposed!

That’s my two cents anyway! Have a great weekend darling,

  8. You look great in this green shorts! I would vote for wedges with shorts! Long legs it is! =D

Well, for someone who comes from a hot country all year round, I guess I’ve got use to all 3 items. For work days, I’d go for dresses. For weekends and just coffee with friends, I’ll do the shorts and if I’m going out for a date, I guess skirts would be my choice. Sometimes when I get lazy to do the mix & match, dress it is!! =D

Another cute look Dale! Crisp and perfect for SoCal weather. I hoped you had fun in Laguna….I suggest you try Sweet and Saucy Bakery Shop next time, if you haven’t already. It’s the cutest chicest bakery located on pacific coast highway. I got my wedding cake from them.
