It’s getting closer to the weekend and you’re going out for drinks with friends or on a date in the next couple nights so what should you wear? I recommend NEON. A neon sweater is still conservative, yet shows you’re willing to have some fun with fashion. Besides, what says ‘Yay, Spring is almost here!’ better than a bright shade against any complexion. And guys can wear neon too! Case in point, The Freshy P’s by Chubbies Shorts.
I’ve been wearing this lemon-lime sweater all winter and before I left California, I paired it with my go-to leather shorts last seen in Zurich’s Snow Leopard post. Here’s a few NEON style tips along with my current March faves…
‘Hardcore Cashmere’ ~ I’m actually surprised there’s not a fashion blog by this name, but the point is don’t be afraid to pair cashmere sweaters and soft fabrics with leather shorts, leggings and stilettos. They balance each other on cool California evenings.
Mixing Current Trends ~ Besides the pop of neon, I decided to go with this new pair of ombre wedges by BCBG and copied Michelle Obama’s bangs (PS ~ The 1st lady is now on twitter. Follow her @FLOTUS)
Neon ON Neon ~ Wearing a bold neon sweater is enough of a statement, but don’t be afraid to wear a bright contrasting lip like this vitamin-infused gloss by Tarte.
Short Hair Question for You ~ From the lovely Giuliana Rancic to bloggers like Emily of CupcakesAndCashmere and maybe your friends, have you noticed women everywhere are rocking shorter hairstyles this Spring? Will you be following this trend?
March Faves ~ (So Far) Besides comfy neon sweaters, this month I’m loving: 1. Glamour magazine 2. the PSY special edition tuxedo bracelet c/o Cruciani, and 3. Liz Sparkling water in Europe. It’s the smoothest sparkling water I’ve ever tasted, low in sodium unlike other sparkling waters, with special minerals. It’s bottled and sold in Germany, but I hope they import to the US soon.

Do you have this NEON hue in your wardrobe?

Dale, that color looks so good! I love it against those leather shorts! You knocked it out the park. The look is so pretty doll. I love bits of neon like this.
Thanks Kim!
I love this sweater! I’m going to a party tomorrow night and have been trying to put together an outfit and now I know what to wear – I’m going to copy this fabulous look of yours!!!
Thanks for the inspiration!
Yay Kristi, hope you had a great time at the party!
I have the J.Crew cashmere sweater in the same color! That color looks gorgeous with the black leather shorts and ombre wedges! It pops! And I love the added pink of the Tarte lip gloss.
I have noticed the shorter hairstyles this spring! Every few months I consider chopping mine to a medium length like Emily’s, but I just can’t seem to part with it! This is the longest (and healthiest) my hair has ever been, so I think I’m going to wait it out a little while longer
Hey Nikki! I know what you mean about the hair and if you finally grew out your hair how you like it, I don’t blame you for not wanting to cut it!
Great post and blog. I love your outfits and the way you style your outfits.

Thank you Brunna
Sadly no neon hues in my wardrobe, apart from slight accents here and there. I just don’t have the right skin tone to pull such awesomeness off

Hope you’re having a great week Dale,

Love love love that sweater!
I feel like I’d totally read a blog called Hardcore Cashmere. It sounds so amusing, but it could be a really fun title for someone to work with. This is a great outfit – neon sweaters are pretty cool!

Yellow looks great on you, Dale! I love it! I will be sportin’ a medium length, but that’s not to say that I haven’t rocked a shorter ‘do, haha! One summer, it was so hot in Texas that I cut my long (down to my lower back long) hair into a Victoria Beckham-inspired bob. I loved it, but I missed my hair so much that I promised myself I wouldn’t be doing that for awhile, haha!
