5 Must-Haves for Your Best Monday Ever

SS 030313 5 MustHaves forYourBestMondayEver StartingWithFreshPowder COVER 1

How many times a year do you wake up on Mondays feeling  groggy and wishing it was a 3-day weekend? Probably too many to count and after flying back to Switzerland this weekend, I was in the same boat. Jetlag, my sub-par snow attire and chickening out on snowboarding this weekend didn’t provide for a bright and early morning today.

Here’s 5 of my new favorite ways to start the Monday off right so you won’t dread next Sunday evening. From bubbly, beauty tricks that save time, to Monday mantras; let’s get started…

We spent this weekend in Davos, Switzerland. And Now, Monday AM Tips…

1. Fresh Powder Makes a Big Difference ~ If you wear foundation, setting it with loose powder sets it for the day. My two fave loose powders are MAC Mineralize loose powder and Make-UpForever HD powder.  If you want to see how to apply it perfectly, check out this Flawless Face How-To video by one of my all-time favorite beauty bloggers, Kandee Johnson.

2. Don’t Get Stuck in a Chapstick Rut ~ Chapped lips are a winter beauty blunder and I think it’s good to switch to a new brand every now and then especially for Carmex addicts. Women at this ski lodge were wearing white chapstick (something I’d never seen before, but apparently it’s popular in Switzerland). My classic fave is Blistex and now this new one below…

3. No Chips & Soft Lips ~ Want to save time & money on beauty? I love these mini Vaseline lip treatments ($1.39) which can double as hand moisturizer. I also just got a Shellac gel manicure for the first time 2 weeks ago and it hasn’t chipped yet.

4. Vow to Conquer a Fear by the End of the Month ~ Now I can say I’ve gone snowblogging, but have yet to actually go snowboarding or skiing in my life. I wimped out, but my goal by the end of March is to actually try it. Make a goal now (it doesn’t have to be a big one) and try to tackle it before April 1st.

5. Celebrate Something by Saturday ~ Sometimes after a hard week at work or even if you get a bit of good news (no matter how small), celebrate with a glass of champagne or two. My favorite sparkling wine at a great price point ~ Roederer Estate

Hope you had a great weekend and if you have any Monday morning tricks to get your week started?

Hi Dale, how are you? So amazing trip! I don’t know if you remember, but I used to have a blog (Daily Catwalk – from Brazil), then I excluded it. So I decided to do a new one, I’d be happy if you visit and follow me again ;) I’m still following you.

  6. OKay I cannot be more jealous of you right now. And how fabulous are you blogging in the snow! I’m going to have to add snowblogging to my bucket list now. You’ll love skiing or boarding once you try it. If you’ve never tried either, I think snowboarding is easier to pick up. Skiing requires a lot more patience for the beginner but once you have it down it can be so addictive. Ahh I can smell the fresh powder from your pics. Have a great time.

  7. I love the MU4E HD powder! And I am obsessed with vaseline – I use it for everything, even conditioning my eyelashes! And the little jars are so handy! You look gorgeous in these pics – I’m obsessed with your sunglasses! Where are they from??

  8. I need to try that vaseline lip therapy. I’ve been using blistex and my lips are terrible. I am desperate!

i love the little container of vasoline too.. because i can use it for my lips and for my cuticles!! my cuticles always get so bad in the winter time.. and i think because the container is soooo freakin’ cute.. i mean i just die for mini versions of anything hahaha!

btw i love how fabulous you look even while in the mountains hahahah! i always look a hot mess when i’m skiing.. but you should try skiing first! it’s definitely easier :)

    • Hahaha, Lisa I know what you mean about the mini versions. When I saw them in Walgreens I thought they were SO cute. I will have to try skiing first and now that I’m over here a lot, we’ll meet up sometime in Frankfurt for sure.

  12. Hi Dale! You’re right, it has been a while! My illustration schedule keeps me so very busy sometimes it keeps me from dropping by my blogging buds … loved the post and your beauty tips! You look great blogging out in the snow (brrr!) . I love all your getting ready for Monday tips … a little planning so that you feel one step ahead of the game always helps me when Monday comes. If I already have my outfit picked out and my schedule made out so that I don’t get up and feel like half the day’s over before I really get “into” it, you know? Have a wonderful March, sounds like fun! xoxo ~S
