The countdown is over, the champagne bottles are recycled and resolutions have been made; but what about all the festive fashion after NYE? January is a weird, chilly, blurred zone of wardrobe confusion. Department stores are already clearing out winter attire and stocking spring collections. What about the holiday styles that were all the rage a week ago?
Are we supposed to retire all the sequins, metallics, glitter and sparkles simply because New Years is over? No. Here’s a few tips to get more wear out of your metallic staples throughout January…
3 Tricks to Wearing Metallics Now ~ 1. Pair it with denim. A sequin top or sparkly heels with a basic blazer and jeans is perfect for a night out. 2. Clutches & Nails ~ A silver or gold clutch is an eye-catching accessory and I always get compliments on metallic manicures. 3. Go with your Favorite ~ Gold, Silver or bronze are equally winners depending on your preference.
How to Diffuse a Bronze Overload ~ If you’re wearing a metallic top, skirt or a full metallic jacket like this one; pair it with distressed jeans, or solid neutral colors. Nothing says ‘My Outfit is Casual‘ more than a pair of denim with holes.
My 2013 Concealer ~ If you’re not getting enough sleep in the new year already, you’re not alone. I just discovered Givenchy’s Mister Light Instant Light Corrective Pen at Sephora. It’s SPF 10 and is much smoother and moisturizing than other concealers. What sold me was its claim to ‘immediately reduce visible signs of fatigue’ which is true.
<DETAILS by Dale> Jacket (old) ~ Marc by Marc Jacobs, bracelet ~ OC Find (G-Stage), booties (old) ~ Qupid, jeans ~ 1969 GAP (similar here)
Do you still have festive metallics you didn’t get a chance to wear during the holidays? ~xoDale
*Have a great weekend and I will announce the winner of the Cruciani bracelet & Savvy Sleepers pillowcase later today on my FB fan page, twitter @savvy_spice, and blog. I will email the winner too.

I’m a little bit metallic obsessed. This post makes me happy!
Thanks Val
I love this — although there’s no way I’m wearing denim with holes anytime soon. It’s close to 0 degrees where I live.
That’s true Lindsay, I don’t think I could handle them in 0 degrees.
This metallic jacket is so pretty! And I love these ideas. I always spend money on something sparkly just for NYE and then wonder how to wear it the rest of the year. Problem solved.
I love your metallic jacket, you look beautiful!
