Every Dog has its Day

You know those uptight, high-maintenance women who play total divas in movies like Goldie Hawn's character in Overboard or on TV like Kim K.? I noticed one of their common traits is they squeal, shriek or look uncomfortable when they're around dogs. While I'm not that bad, but my motto on canines has always been, "I like them, I just don't want them touching me." Before you roll your eyes, in all fairness, I grew up with a pack of Labs who frolicked outdoors in mud and poison ivy all day before eagerly charging me the moment I opened my car door. There was also the constant stream of their thoughtful gifts such as dead mice, birds, squirrels, opossums they'd catch, kill and proudly display on our front porch. Needless to say, I was a bit stand-offish with dogs from the start.

However, during my 6th year living here in SF I met my neighbor's dog, Wallace. He's polite, well behaved, cute and small. We take him for walks, I've held him and for the first time, I'm understanding that phrase "Man's Best Friend."

I'd like to introduce you again to Wallace as I took him out on New Year's Day in some of my favorite winter trends including over-the-knee boots, plaid tights, burgundy accents and a new hat by Goorin Brothers.

Little Wallace is a mut (Beagle & Pomeranian, etc). My friend brought him home from Rocket Dog Rescue (a SF dog rescue org.)  for 2 days but everyone loved him so much, he adopted him.

Yes, I put a pearl statement necklace on Wallace for these pics ~ but he didn't mind.

Outfit inspiration: I have to admit, when I saw this picture of Blake Lively in a baby blue pea coat a couple years ago on the set of Gossip Girl, I got the inspiration for this outfit. I loved the idea of pairing a winter coat with over-the-knee boots, plaid tights, a sweater dress and the hat was just an added bonus. I also got an email today from Goorin Bros. and they are having a MAJOR winter SALE on men's and women's hats. They have stores in cities nationwide or online.

Doggie-sitting Wallace has made me want to get a puppy of my own one day. What kind of dog do you have or would you recommend?
