Los Angeles can be intimidating. At certain events, restaurants, and parties I feel like everyone is "somebody" or trying to be "somebody." And at the very least, everyone knows "somebody," even if it's a D-list reality star. I had received an email inviting me to attend a Rock n Roll fashion show and concert at the W Hotel in Hollywood featuring Nikki Lund and Richie Sambora and their fashion line called NikkiRich by "WTB." It didn't matter to me thousands of other bloggers got the same invite, this sounded like fun! I had a little business to take care of too, so last Wednesday I boarded Southwest and 50 minutes later touched down in a rarely rainy LA.
While packing for the trip I realized I'd never heard of this clothing line. I googled "WTB" and it turns out the fashion line is called "White Trash Beautiful" (interesting choice) so I had NO idea what to expect people in attendance to be wearing. But I do know my closet doesn't have a single piece of Affliction or Ed Hardy, so I went with a simple faux snakeskin patterned dress and a pair of heels that aren't my usual style.
So 3...2...1...Here's a rundown of the NikkiRich by White Trash Beautiful fashion show and concert:

| I wore a black sheeth dress I found at Nordstrom Rack in Boulder CO (Fishbowl) Jewelry (F21) |
| I was going for a 80's/Rock n Roll look - Black heels (GUESS) |

| I brought one of my best friends, Joe, who works as a sound mixer in LA. While he's not that into fashion, he's come such a long way from bolo ties and WWF shirts in high school. I'm proud of him. :) The NikkiRich by WTB Fashion Spring 2012 line (pics from Nikki Lund's FB. SEE more of the line here)
I'm a huge fan of the sheer maxi skirts and thought this dress was pretty for spring/summer.
LOVING THE HAIR: The models were all very pretty, BUT I noticed a huge trend they wore were different types of braids like this model before she walked out with a headband/side pony braid.
Next, the concert... It was fun watching Nikki Lund and Richie Sambora perform |
| Richie was really nice and... kinda random but somehow his hair looks just like mine when I first wake up in the morning ;) |

Wow do I love those shoes!! I really don't think the design name matters that much although it should be a little random and orginal...if the clothing is great it won't matter what it's called!

this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks and yea, I agree as long as the designs are nice it really doesn't matter much.
ReplyDeleteHey Dale! Girl you chose a great outfit girl! That dress was rockin and so were your shoes! The designs were really nice. I think in fashion there is some association with the name of the brand. With a label entitled "white trash..." I would expect more super short and 'out there' kinda of looks, but that wasn't the case. If I saw one of their designs and liked it I would buy it. I'm not sure high profile people would, because when asked what they're wearing they wouldn't want to offend anyone and say OH WHITE TRASH. So they may be limiting the people that buy just because of their name which is bad. Your pic with Richie is CUTE! He seems like a really nice guy. Well YOU should never feel inferior! Because you look better than some celebrities girl. I'm not just saying it! You exude confidence! Have a great evening!

nice wrap up, but you're forgetting one other thing apart from the label and design: the price! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat boots!

Dale - you are such a celeb! Particularly when online shopping, I'm drawn to interesting and unique names
ReplyDeleteGreat shoes. And I don't think the name matters too much. Or the designer, unless you're just buying the name.
ReplyDeleteBut then again, I don't buy a lot of high fashion pieces... so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I like the new layout! Slightly confusing at first, but it works well!
Thank you for your comment!
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean about the whole LA thing. Sometimes it can be unbearable. But rest assured that if I sw you in LA, you would definitely look like a somebody! So chic.
Hope you'll stop by again.

Those boots are SO AMAZING!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe name of the clothing line would kind of bother me.
I don't know if I would buy it for the name. I usually first touch a garment, look at it and then go for the label - so i guess if i really liked it I would not care what its called.
ReplyDeleteHowever image wise - i would not endorse something called like that.
First of all love the shoes. Excellent edgy choice! Now the name is just a name, usually selected to attention-grab. It works :) But you have to LOVE the clothes. And with WTB and the NikkiRich clothes, they do seem to have something for everyone. It's not trashy- it's a slight edge to feminine clothing. The custom clothes or the runway lines are more provocative-and bless anyone who can wear them.
ReplyDeleteApparently the brand name didn't match the contents of the collection! i like that long dress!
ReplyDeleteAnd I loved your LBD and booties!
What a fun event and love the chiffon maxi!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYes, for me a name does influence to some extent. With that name, I might never have investigated futher to see their lovely designs. A tricky one I think x
A name isn't important to me at all. It's all about design, construction and price! You look stunning in your LBD!
ReplyDeleteYou look great, those shoes are so rock and roll! Love them! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

First of all, you look fabulous! Love how your dress looks like leather! Second, I almost always go for the designs that catch my eye! But I still get really excited when I score a designer name at a great price!

Awesome outfit! And I'm not sure the name matters really unless it was called "Fat and Ugly" or something, haha. I'd I guess if the clothes were beautiful I may not care...
ReplyDeleteamazing pictures, love the shoes, are stunning!
ReplyDeleteKisses!
the name can certainly get my attention, i.e. rich and skinny or young fabulous and broke. but it comes down to quality if i'm gonna purchase something! rad dress too.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! You looked great! Perfect outfit for the occasion!
ReplyDeleteP.S I am having an awesome (in my opinion ha) giveaway on my blog tomorrow would love if you stopped by!
