It’s Time to Call Your…

When is the last time you talked to ________(please insert family member’s name you should keep in better contact with here)? Maybe it’s your grandparents, your favorite childhood cousin, your brother or your own parents. I run into people all the time who haven’t talked to their siblings in months, years and in some unfortunate cases, decades. Even when my sister and I have an occasional fight, we’ll still talk, email or laugh our way through it within a few days of an argument.

I think it’s so important to keep in touch with your family. LAST weekend my mom, sister, aunt and I took a little trip to visit my aunt and family in Denver, Colorado. It had been 10 years since the last time we’d gone there and visited. It was well overdue.

Here’s a quick rundown of the trip:

From Left to Right: My cousin Glory, aunt Jill, my mom, Me, my sister Jody, & my aunt Jean.
Waiting in Line at SNOOZE, the best breakfast I’ve ever had!

Later that afternoon we went hiking in Boulder

Next, we headed to Boulder State Park for a hike. I had only packed sandals so I picked up a pair of shoes on the way. Gotta love TJ Maxx when your forget clothes on a vacay icon smile

On our hike in Boulder, CO. The weather was perfect in the upper 80′s all weekend.

We saw dozens of people on this hike. Colorado is very outdoorsy, I loved it!

On our way down the mountain we spotted a bride and groom taking phots with their wedding party

All of us out to dinner the last night in Denver…and the next day it was back to San Francisco
I hate to relate a positive topic such as keeping in touch with your family to “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” but I think viewers are partly fascinated with their family dynamic. The Kardashian klan is huge and growing with marriages. The family members that star in the show are very close. But for some reason, Bruce’s other four kids including Brody Jenner are rarely shown, which is a shame.

While the Kardashians fight and get in each other’s business, for the most part they all take care of each other (especially if there’s a product endorsement involved) which is what family should do.

So my little thought of the day is that if you’ve been putting off family or even best friend quality time, call  them this weekend, send an email or Facebook message, set up a Skype appointment or mail them an old fashioned letter. Better yet, book a trip. After all, the holidays are around the corner. icon smile

What about you, are you close with your family?

    lovely family! :D :D :D

and yup, we live in a city where most of our relatives (on our mom’s side) also live, so it’s not to difficult bumping into family every once in a while. :D

  • ChaosButterfly

Aw, you guys are all so cute!! You look just like your mom in that last picture.

I’m pretty close with my immediate family and with my extended family on my mom’s side. Most of them live literally five (or fewer) minutes away, so I’m at their house or they’re at mine almost every day.
On my dad’s side, I don’t know them and I don’t wanna know them. LOL.

The Kardashians do tend to stick up for each other, except for in Rob’s case. I feel like they terrorize him and it makes me treat my little brother that much more kindly, because I don’t want him having #RobKardashianproblems. I also wish Brody Jenner showed up more often, although not really because I care about his family relationship. I just wanna ogle him. ^_^

It’s really great to catch up with the most important people of your life: family. I am very close to my immediate family, we live in one roof so there’s no escaping them lol Not that I want to, I love them to pieces. And if one of us is away for more than 2 days, it gets so lonely, feels like a part of me is missing.

I’m close with most of my family, but it’s been 3 years since I talked to my dad. His birthday was wednesday.

I love him, but I don’t have to like him. He’s not worth my energy. I agree with you to a point… for him, that bridge is burned.

  • Nic Nic

aww its amazing that you’re close to nearly everyone there! My extended family is pretty big but I’m close to my immediate family and some cousins I’ve grown up with.

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/10378565480144076489 Paulina Mo

you all look so lovely!! great post and very interesting topic… It really did make me think because I do have A LOT of family members that haven’t seen in years!! but when it comes to my immediate family, I can’t go more than a day without talking to them. Even when we have a disagreement, give it a few hours and then we are talking like if nothing happened. Family above pride ;)

and about the Jenners, I agree! Brody came out in one episode and after that he didn’t maybe because if he appears he needs some compensation? that family is all about the $$. They are pretty funny though!

  • Kristina

I LOVE Denver. I’m glad you guys had a fab time.
